Tabu is fully traceable thanks to a certificate showcasing its clean record thwarting all attempts by tax dodgers, shady businessmen, hackers and other criminals to hide their transactions in cryptocurrencies.
Falciani says, “What happens with any innovation or any technology is that it can be used in the bad way or maybe used in a friendly way with a social impact. Fake information is the basis of any kind of fraud. The same way we have to deal with fake news, the same technology can be applied to fake invoices,” in an interview with Reuters.
Before going down under, the French-Italian was a Systems Engineer working at HSBC who engineered what has now come to be known as the ‘biggest banking leak in history’ when he helped track down 130,000 tax evaders holding Swiss Bank accounts during the Wall Street financial crisis of 2008.
Developed by the Tactical Whistleblowers, a non profit entity founded by Falciani while he lives in exile in Spain as part of a Witness Protection Program, he has many academicians, mathematicians and analysts from Spanish Universities who are helping him develop Tabu.
Tabu is to be offered to investors in a public sale after Spain's Financial Regulators approve the investment. As of today, these crypto-tokens are worth approximately $2.3 million collectively.
Spain rejected the 2nd extradition request submitted to it last year, giving him the last bit of fuel required to push through to completing his project spearheaded by many intellectuals from the Valencia. A little more than a decade after he leaked the now infamous, ‘Falciani List’ he is grabbing headlines once again with Tabu. Already having raised over $1.5 million, another $2 million is expected before the tokens are ready to be offered. Reportedly, there are 5 million Tabu tokens ready for the offering.
Falciani’s think tank is also working on a high efficiency blockchain system currently dubbed ‘Alethia,’ for disclosure in Greek to cross reference electronic procurement contracts for public administration’s aiming to mitigate fraud and make efficiency gains to reduce costs.
