After a long day's toil, when the farmer returns home to his bed, savours a piping hot meal and lays down to rest satisfied of the work he's put into his field, there is no feeling greater; it is said

Being born in a middle class family has its' downsides but it has got its fair share of perks as well. While I couldn't have all that I wanted, I never had any issues with the things that I absolutely needed. I went to one of the best schools in the city and was encouraged in any and all of my pursuits. Unfortunately though, the same couldn't be said for many of the kids that I grew up with. So, yeah… another nice day. Class and then afternoon off. I’d drawn a few drafts of the logo. Talked Vinyas into drawing one for me so that I could digitize it. There were others helping me with ideas, and I have time. Or so I thought… I’m chilling in the workshop and at about 4 or so in the evening I get a call from Pai bhaiyya telling me to give the Carnival ka logo and VSO logo to the printers for the banner! So… I had an internal conversation with myself that went something like this... The week started out like any other when I got a mail from Anup sir asking Pai bhaiyya, Varun bhaiyya and myself to meet them at DoC. And I was like, DoC? Why in blue hell should I go to DoC? Now, let me be brutally, unabashedly, and shamelessly honest – I was always under the impression that ‘DoC sucks!’ That opinion changed when their cricket team thrashed both of ours in the tournament, but I digress… I happily bunked the last sess and headed to the odd academic building that stood in between two hostel blocks and a mess. With the semester break now a pensive memory and a week into listening to the long, boring lectures in the hallowed halls of the NLH, the lone MITian desperate for some change goes out into the streets on an off afternoon. Finding nothing interesting in Manipal save the MITFL trials, he takes a stride towards a place where his visits were limited to rickshaw journeys from home. Udupi – known far and wide as the temple town of Karnataka. The new academic year is finally here. The new kids on the block have so many questions! I took part in an exercise to answer all of those questions... Courtesy - MiT Live January 26th, 2006 It was Republic Day. The school was abuzz with activity. Students of the higher classes had taken to turning the playground into the drill square and boy, had they done a good job! With Rangolis drawn delicately near the entrances to the red carpet carefully laid across the square for the chief guest to walk on. The School Pupil Leader, parade commander-in-chief for the day standing in front of the dais in wait of the chief guest’s arrival. The class contingents stood on their designated positions, their faces solemn with the fervor of patriotism largely writ. |
The Mango TreeMildly entertaining, occasionally funny and something pretentious coz the first two are too mainstream Archives
