Frankly, this absurd #FraudTeresa #RSSQuestionsMotherTeresa controversy has most definitely arisen due to a misunderstanding. Whether it was intentional or not, I have no idea simply because of the reason that I wasn’t even born then!
Now any theist following any religion tends to believe that his/her faith is the true one and his/her ‘God’ is the true god. I don’t see why the Mother is any different. She was a missionary no doubt, a missionary sent by the Vatican to a then third world country India to convert the populous into Christianity, but it takes true dedication for a missionary to decide to give everything up, her home, her nationality, her identity and decide to stay in India and carry on her work. Her work that she believed was God’s work. And as Lord Krishna once said, ‘belief’ is greater than ‘God’ himself!
There may be numerous controversies surrounding Mother Terasa’s Nobel Prize or her expected sainthood - her indifference towards woman empowerment, her supposed antipathy towards divorce, remarriage, abortion and issues like those but nevertheless she left everything behind to help Indian people. People who were downtrodden and ignored. Lepers who no one else cared to touch. She held their hands and gave them hope. So what if they ultimately converted to Christianity? If the then dominant Hindus had lifted so much as a finger to set things right, they wouldn’t have converted. If a Hindu fundamentalist had convinced every other Hindu why Hinduism is the most apt, there would be no scope for conversion. If I help you, you’d naturally ask why. If I say it’s because my religion asks me to, you’d want to know more. If I manage to convince you that yours is a pagan religion and mine offers you more recognition, then it’s only natural that you’d want to join me! End of story!
The people who accuse the mother of supposedly having a hidden agenda for doing what she did, where were you when people were dying?
One silly supposed ‘Anti-Human’ (I don’t know why) statement given by someone not even in the party let alone the government has led to supposed ‘dissatisfaction’ to the Opposition who promptly walked out of the House when a discussion of an important bill was going on. Seriously? You rather take something trivial and bombard it to the stratosphere to get everyone talking about it than discuss matters of national importance! Politics, I tell you!
And me? I spent my whole day pondering over this while I could have enjoyed it in bliss watching Chris Gayle annihilate the Zimbabwe bowlers!
